With the SALTO solution we can cover all our requirements - and much more. Because you only really realise the immense possibilities that the system actually offers when you work with it. For us, this is also an expression of the innovative power behind it.

The certification to ensure food safety according to FSSC 22000 (Food Safety System Certification 22000) prompted the Feldschlösschen brewery in Rheinfelden to introduce a new electronic access control system. Until then, the brewery had been using a mechanical locking system that was more than 30 years old and whose replacement was already being discussed. The trigger for the introduction of an electronic system, however, was the additional certification and the increased requirements that came with it.
In addition to the conditions of the FSSC, those responsible attached particular importance to being able to react flexibly to changes. The aim was to be able to better allocate authorisations. This was to be achieved by creating sectors and providing individual access rights with time windows. This affected internal departments, but also external companies. In general, the goal was to be able to control access more precisely, i.e. to determine who can enter buildings, where and when. In addition, the new system was to support different opening modes, e.g. grant free access within a defined time window and otherwise automatically make the doors accessible only to an authorised group of people.
The Feldschlösschen brewery had already been using an online access system. However, its continuation was out of the question because the allocation of access rights was complicated and the system was based on outdated identification technology. Therefore, a new approach with dual-chip was taken, which still combines time and attendance and access control on one badge, but on separate chips. In addition to building security, those responsible also tackled site security. For this, they wanted an access control system with number plate recognition for suppliers and with long distance readers for forklift trucks in logistics.
During the search for a suitable system, two further decisive points emerged. One was user-friendliness, i.e. a virtual network and not a purely offline system. After all, they didn't want to have to go through every door when access rights changed. And secondly, the manufacturer's ability to innovate was important. Here, the focus was on the design of the software interface, available and combinable technologies as well as useful tools, such as client function, mobile access or site plan display.

The company chose a SALTO solution because of the flexibility in the allocation of access rights, the availability of different technologies and predictable costs for expansion.
The decisive factor in choosing the SALTO access solution was its user-friendliness. The technologically mature virtual network and its advantages in authorisation management played a central role, but also the design of the software interface, available and combinable technologies as well as useful tools such as client function, mobile access or site plan display. Another important point was the calculable costs thanks to the well thought-out licensing, in which the brewery does not need an additional software licence for new access points.
Currently, more than 750 access points are integrated into the system at the Feldschlösschen brewery headquarters in Rheinfelden. Of these, around 75 doors and gates are equipped with SALTO online wall readers and control units. The XS4 One electronic long plate escutcheon is used at around 450 access points. More than 40 SALTO GEO electronic cylinders are installed, for example, in the brewery buildings, but also as padlocks in the archives and for the cover of the malt house (facility for malt delivery). In addition, there are over 180 XS4 Locker electronic locker locks.
For internal vehicle access control, Feldschlösschen uses SALTO long-range readers at five hall entrances with forklift traffic. Automatic number plate recognition is used at five HGV access points to the site and the logistics halls.
For access management, the brewery uses the ProAccess SPACE management software. The multi-client function (partitions) is also used, which allows the decentralised management of access rights, which will later also be used for the other locations in Switzerland.
